Strength Training for guys in their early 50′s?

I started strength training again to help my golf swing. I’m torn between working one bodypart a day and splitting the parts during the week (ie chest and triceps on Monday etc). Any input? Thanks in advance

How about, instead of thinking about training body parts, you train movements instead?

This will have a greater degree of carry-over to your golf game because if will avoid the specificity inherent in isolation exercises that you use during body-part splits.

Squats, overhead pressing, pullups, deadlifts, and bench press are the classic 5 movements that make up a good, full-body workout. For your purposes, there is no need to bulk up, so you can just use relatively high reps (8-15) and get a good, general-purpose fitness workout.

Another thing you can try: a good core workout. Golfers are limited by their core strength. If you work on rotational core strength — targeting the transverse abdominus muscles — it can only help you.
