Flovel Co., Ltd. exhibited the “Round Leader”, the newest model of its indoor golf simulator, at the Digital Content Expo 2008 show.
Round Leader is an indoor golf simulator that enables golf enthusiasts to enjoy a virtual round of golf at over 100 actual golf courses in Japan while remaining indoors. The system also features advanced functions that respond to the need for serious training as well.
The system uses two high performance, high speed cameras and laser measuring equipment to analyze information such as ball movement and rotation based on high resolution images photographed by the cameras. From this analysis, the system derives accurate data on initial speed, launch angle, direction of rotation, and rotational speed, and based on this information, it accurately reproduces the golfer’s ?ball flight?.
In addition to a function that measures shots taken with a driver, an iron, or an approach wedge, Round Leader also features a system for measuring putts. It can perfectly reproduce everything from tee off shots to putting, so players can enjoy a full round of golf with a true game like experience. The system can also reproduce weather conditions on a 3DCG field including wind (tailwinds, headwinds, and cross winds) and rain, and the trajectory of the ball responds to these conditions and changes in real time.
