golf project!?
I am currently undertaken a 4th year individual design project in which I'm developing a new golf putting training aid. I am trying to gather as much information about putting and I would love some help. Does anyone have any ideas on a new putting aid or any contatcs in glasgow scotland area where i can get some analysis or ideas from.
Really anything along the lines of putting would be of tremendous help! and plz no stupid answers, plz!
I'm an amateur golfer, so my putting game sucks. There are a few things teachers and friends always tell me to do when I'm golfing and it seems to help.
1 Keep your wrists straight.
2 Swing the putter like your whole body is a pendulum.
3 Never leave a birdie putt short.
Keeping wrists straight is the hardest part. Maybe some sort of contraption that holds your wrists in a good position while holding the club would be something to think about.

Contact your local golf course and ask if the golfers would be willing to help.

I've found that most people use too much motion when putting. When you look at pros like Tiger putt compared to the hackers on the local putting green you can see the difference. I think the best putting aid would be one to stop players from looking up or shifting their body weight around durring the stroke.
I worked with my dad's putting by holding the grip of a club to the brim of his hat so he would feel if he moved his head. Since then he stopped fearing the 3 footers and lowered his average by 10 strokes.

keeping your eyes directly over the line of putt, either directly over the ball or directly over the line just behind the ball like jack used to do, is an important element of putting.
an aid to encourage that might be helpful.

The key elements in putting are.
1: green reading.
2: planning. eg. don't miss it low.
3: play as much break as you can and die it in.
The secret to short putting is. "don't care if you miss"
you will make allot more if you don't care..
I know this answer will disappoint those who try to buy a good game. The ones who buy new drivers and balls every year that go 1 inch further and 1/2 inch closer to the middle.
