HELP. I want to learn how to play the game of golf. Any suggestions on definitive videos, before I hire a Pro?
I want to learn the game, the rules, and how to cultivate all of the correct habits. It just looks like so much fun, and I want to learn how to master the skill using proper formation.
I have processing challenges that make reading difficult, but if there is anybody out there that can suggest good videos or other practice or teaching aids, I would really appreciate your sharing them.
Thanks.
I suggest you hire a pro first. Maybe use videos for simple things like grip and tempo, but do not work on the swing with videos. A lot of problems golfers face with their swing come about when they try to teach themselves how to do certain things. Golf Digest is probably responsible for a lot of bad swings (but it still comes with really good stuff, people just don't know how to use it). Learning the game's rules and etiquette will come with playing often with knowledgeable players. It's also the fun way to learn it.

Well I would highly suggest visiting http://www.golflink.com/
It's got tons of instructional videos, tips etc. They also have a very popular forum with tons of seasoned golfers who know their stuff.
You might also wanna check out some beginner lesson video's from your local golf store. These are always of great help. Pay attention to everything on the video, watch it as many times as needed then hit the range.
After you've started to get a little bit more feel for the game, then it's time to turn to a pro for lessons.

Nothing beats getting lessons from a teaching pro. For everything else like rules, etiquette, info about clubs I'd suggest http://www.LearnAboutGolf.com , they specialize in golf for beginners.
Check out the video section, you can even get videos on golf etiquette:

No kidding, video games are cool training aids to help learn to play.
I love the Outlaw Golf games. They have great putting simulation. Sometimes when I am playing I imagine a line on the green just like the game.
This is cool too.
